Overview

Digitley Technologies Private Limited ("Digitley", "we", "us") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

This policy applies to all Digitley services including our website (digitley.com), mobile app, hardware products, cloud platform, and Digitpass keyless entry system. It applies to all users โ€” homeowners, hotel managers, commercial operators, and any other person whose data we process.

1. What We Collect

1.1 Account & Identity Data

When you create a Digitley account, we collect:

  • Name
  • Mobile phone number (used for account verification)
  • Email address
  • City / location (for installation and support purposes)
  • Property type (home, hotel, office) โ€” to tailor your experience

1.2 Device & Automation Data

To operate your smart home system, we collect:

  • Device identifiers and configuration settings (e.g., which room a switch is in)
  • Device status and events (e.g., "Front Door locked at 10:47 PM on 15 Mar")
  • Automation rules you create (e.g., "If motion detected at night, turn on lights")
  • Energy consumption data from compatible devices (aggregated, for energy analytics)

1.3 Access Log Data

For Smart Locks and access-controlled areas:

  • Entry and exit timestamps
  • Access method used (app, PIN, fingerprint, NFC, etc.)
  • Whether access was granted or denied
  • Failed access attempts (for security alerts)

1.4 Technical & Usage Data

  • IP address and approximate location (city level) when using the app
  • Device type and OS version (for app compatibility)
  • App usage patterns (which features you use, crash reports)
  • Wi-Fi network name (SSID) โ€” stored locally on device for reconnection only

2. How We Use It

We use the data we collect for the following purposes:

  • Operating our Services โ€” Providing device control, automation, remote access, and Digitpass keyless entry
  • Security & Safety โ€” Detecting intrusions, sending alerts, maintaining access logs for your review
  • Customer Support โ€” Diagnosing issues with your devices, responding to your queries
  • Service Improvement โ€” Understanding how features are used to fix bugs and build new features
  • Energy Analytics โ€” (Digitley Pro only) Providing energy usage reports and savings projections
  • Communications โ€” Sending you product updates, security notices, and support responses.

We do not use your data for advertising targeting.

We do not build advertising profiles from your device or home usage data.

3. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With Other Users You Authorise โ€” If you invite family members, staff, or guests to your Digitley property.
  • With Service Providers โ€” We use third-party providers for cloud hosting, push notifications, SMS delivery, and crash analytics.
  • For Legal Compliance โ€” We may disclose your data if required by law, court order, or government authority.

4. Data Storage & Security

Where We Store Your Data

Digitley's server infrastructure is currently 53% hosted in India, with the remainder on international cloud providers (AWS and Google Cloud) operating under Indian data protection obligations. We are committed to 100% India-hosted infrastructure by 2027.

Security Measures

  • End-to-end encryption for all data transmitted between devices and our servers (TLS 1.3)
  • AES-256 encryption for stored data at rest
  • Two-factor authentication for Digitley accounts
  • Regular security audits and penetration testing

In the event of a data breach

We will notify you and the relevant authorities within 72 hours of becoming aware, as required by applicable law.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Specific retention periods:

  • Device event logs: 90 days (rolling), unless you are on Digitley Pro.
  • Account data: Retained until account deletion + 30 days.
  • Financial records: 7 years (as required by Indian accounting law).

6. Your Rights

You have the following rights in relation to your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@digitley.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Our website uses essential cookies for function, and analytics cookies to understand site usage. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Digitley services are intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

9. Third-Party Integrations

When you connect services like Apple HomeKit, Alexa, or Google Home, their own privacy policies apply to data shared with them.

10. India-Specific Rights

Digitley operates in compliance with applicable Indian data protection law, including the Information Technology Act 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA).
